U.S. Kids Golf Tour – Miami Local Tour (Palmetto Golf Course, October 19, 2014)
Hello everyone this is Gia’s first Blog Post about her Golf Game:) Today Gia finished in 3rd place against a strong field of competitors in the 7& under Age Division. We are working together as a team to learn the best way to get Gia setup to her target. Learning a “Pre-Shot Routine” can be challenging for anyone at any age, so I am very happy to say that Gia accomplished her goal – To stay committed to her Routine on every shot. The reality is I need to be more accurate in Gia’s distance control for all of her shots. And nail down her chipping yardages to keep her score lowering.
As far as her technique, she is very advanced for her age, so I am extremely proud of her swing. Gia has 2 tournaments coming up next weekend, so we will be focusing some more on Routine, Approach yardages, Chipping yardages, and the Bunker game. I am so blessed to be able to say that my daughter is enjoying this game, and she teaches me more about myself. Our time on the course, at times can be difficult, how do you tell a child how they can improve and at the same time keep encouraging them that they are on the right track? <<<<—- Definitely not easy, a real test to our relationship, but the focus is not on winning…. the focus is on Gia’s “Building Blocks” of improvement. Winning will happen when Opportunity and Preparation meet – organically. Don’t get me wrong, Gia is determined to win, I just don’t make that the focus of tournament play. I want to Thank everyone reading this post, from Gia and our entire family…. God Bless!!
